Russell Boyd Thomas Scholarship

The scholarship is for a graduating senior of Hendersonville High School. Applicant must attend a qualified, degree-granting college or university in pursuit of an academic or professional degree. The award is meant for a student of low- to middle-income, well-rounded in character, morality, leadership and other factors of such general nature. Applicant must have participated in the Hendersonville High School band. Preference should be given to a student with some form of medical complication. Preference may also be given to a student wishing to pursue a degree in science or the medical field.

S.E. and Juanita Johnston Scholarship for Agriculture

This scholarship is for a person seeking higher education at an accredited institution including but not limited to: vocational, technical, trade, college, or university. Assistance is for a student pursuing a degree or certification in the field of agriculture. The student must have good academic potential, have attended a Henderson County public high school, be a resident of Henderson County, NC, show a need for financial support to pursue his/her education, and demonstrate the initiative to better one’s self. Student must be a resident of Henderson County, NC, and be in the top 50% of class.

Sam A. Mills Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be a graduate of a Henderson County public high school who is pursuing an undergraduate degree in an accredited school on a full-time basis. The applicant must demonstrate financial need and show scholastic achievement and good citizenship.

Sigrun M. Mapes Nursing Scholarship

This scholarship is to provide financial support to a student seeking to attain a degree in the field of Nursing at an accredited institution. Student must be accepted or enrolled into a Nursing program at an accredited community college, meet and maintain the academic standards as set by the educational institution, be a legal resident of Henderson County, and demonstrate financial need.

T. Llyle and Marion S. Keith Scholarship

The applicant must be a graduating senior or a graduate of a public high school in Henderson County. This scholarship is not based on merit (however, must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 or better), but on financial need. Students must be pursuing their undergraduate education in a two or four year accredited institution.

Thomas E. and Marian L. Overby Scholarship

This scholarship is to provide financial support for an individual pursuing a degree in the field of nursing. The scholarship recipient shall be under the age of 50 seeking education beyond the high school level to become a nurse or certified nursing assistant.

Thomas Oliver and Louise Jordan Mulcahy Scholarship

This scholarship is for a graduate of a high school in Henderson County and shall be awarded based on academic standing and financial need. The recipient need not be at the top of his or her class academically nor at the bottom of his or her class financially.

Toby L. Mapes: Fire Protection Technology Scholarship

This scholarship is to provide financial assistance for a student pursuing a higher education in a Fire Protection Technology degree at an accredited institution, with preference given to students attending Blue Ridge Community College or AB Technical College in a fire protection technology field. A second preference is given to students pursuing nursing.

This scholarship was established by the previous Hendersonville City Schools Board of Education in honor of Mr. Wilson for his commitment and dedication to the students of Hendersonville High School and is for a deserving student who is a graduate of Hendersonville High School.

Tracy Grove Community Club Scholarship

Applicant must graduate from a school in Henderson County and must intend to enroll in a degree-granting program in an accredited two- or four-year institute. The applicant must be the son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter, stepchild, niece or nephew of a resident living within or adjoining the boundaries of the Tracy Grove community (contact the Community Foundation for boundaries). Applicant should demonstrate financial need and academic merit. **You must submit (1) the name of your relative who lives within or adjoin the boundaries of the Tracy Grove Community; (2) your relationship to that relative; and (3) your relative’s residential address.**
