Jay Walker Memorial Golf Fund

During his 55 years of life, Jay Walker made many friends. He was a Henderson County native and lifelong resident, a 1968 graduate of Hendersonville High School, an American Red Cross volunteer and a Vietnam veteran. He was also an avid golfer and golf instructor. Jay died abruptly on September 17, 2004 when a tree fell on his home, as the remnants of Hurricane Ivan tore through Henderson County.

"Something good has to come out of the loss of Jay.”

- Sandie Salvaggio-Walker

In February of 2005, his wife, Sandie Salvaggio-Walker woke up one morning with a revelation that “something good has to come out of the loss of Jay.” After thinking about it, she said, “I am going to do something for the high school golf teams.” Sandie, along with friends and family, have hosted golf tournaments in the past to increase the endowment honoring Jay’s memory.

The goal is to ensure that funds will always be there to provide money for Henderson County high school golf teams.
