Wendy Hamil

Donor Services Manager

Wendy Hamil joined Community Foundation of Henderson County in 2016 as Donor Services Manager. She works as a community liaison and as the scholarship coordinator. Her admiration of nonprofits began with her first job at Walt Disney World working with Make-a-Wish Foundation.

A native of Gaffney, S.C., she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Clemson University and a Master’s of Education degree from Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama. Her significant experience in public relations, fundraising, communications, marketing and education offers a valuable insight when working with the community.

Wendy also has 12 years of experience in education. Her background includes teaching in the public and private sectors as well as abroad at the Tsinghua Experimental School in Shenzhen, China. She represented Tallassee City Schools to community civic groups, state and local businesses and political leaders connecting high school students to future job opportunities. During this time, she established the Tiger Culture Club and a charitable fund to support student volunteerism and community awareness.

Some top organizations with which Wendy has worked are The Walt Disney Company, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, BMW Manufacturing, and PYA Monarch. She also owned an agriculturally-based company. Wendy holds a South Carolina insurance license and has expertise in Social Security advisement. She also served as a national marketing director to promote technical education across America.

As a 2014 Vision Henderson County Alumni and its class president, Wendy led the effort to establish the John L. Boyd Vision Endowment Fund with the Community Foundation. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Friends of Carl Sandburg, an organizer for the Saluda Arts Festival, a volunteer for the Saluda Historic Depot and is a micro-lender and volunteer for Kiva.org.

A resident of Saluda, N.C., Wendy enjoys the arts, equestrian events, and travel.
